Runescape Archaeology will be coming a bit latervalid until: 29 Mar 2021date published: 29 Mar 2020
And these efforts persist. Now, we're on the cusp of a fresh age for RuneScape. This evolution will take a few years to unfold, and how this seems becomes better to me every day. However, the plan is not finalised yet. I've still got plenty of work to do ensuring that our approach is consistent and correctly supported throughout our development teams. I want to be absolutely sure that we're working toward a fantastic selection of regular content, and that this informative article which will decide on a new gold standard for RuneScape. We will need to be driving quality of life improvements, removing friction and reducing bugs - both before and following release. Our core experience needs to be great, our NXT client has to be modernised, and Runescape game needs to be worth your time.
To get this right, I want to know we're prioritising the ideal things. What content do you engage with the most? And exactly what exactly are you telling us you want? As importantly, I want to understand what our weaknesses and strengths are as a studio and team. When have we succeeded? And where have we underdelivered? Bearing this in mind, I want to develop a RuneScape leadership team that's working together to create an inspiring vision for our future. To deliver this we'll require new growth criteria, new production process and production plans, new tools and pipeline optimisations. The RuneScape team is growing, and such teams have to be efficiently and proactively working collectively on common goals. I'm even considering how we could build more creativity and fun into our daily work environment. All of that should translate into a much better product, meaning happier Runescape gamers, and programmers that are pleased with the work.
However, this means we are not yet in the position to give you our usual Year Ahead video. I would like to come to you with a plan that takes RuneScape in the leadership Runescape players need and deserve. I want to get to a location where the stream of content is no more a concern. I would like you to be really excited about all the new adventures coming your way. And I want you to understand these things are coming regularly and predictably. We are going to be bringing this roadmap for you a time in the early New Year.
What I can confirm today is that Runescape Archaeology will be coming a bit later than we mentioned at RuneFest. The upgrade is so close to being where we would like it. In truth we could release it and it might deliver on much of your expectations (we are thrilled with Runescape gameplay!) However, I feel that using some more QA time and polish we could deliver a much better launch in a higher visual standard. Runescape Archaeology has been a substantial development effort (we've been working on it for over a year) and I'm convinced the best move would be to give it the opportunity to satisfy more of its possible. The Land Out of Time raised the visual bar for Runescape game, and we must make sure that Runescape Archaeology maintains that standard.
