Exabeam Report: AIPowered Insider Threats Surpass External Attacks

Exabeam’s new global study, “From Human to Hybrid: How AI and the Analytics Gap Are Fueling Insider Risk,” reveals a major shift in cybersecurity. 64% of security leaders now see insiders malicious or compromised as bigger threats than hackers. Generative AI is driving stealthier phishing, spoofing, and credential misuse at machine speed.
Industries like government (73%), manufacturing (60%), and healthcare (53%) expect sharp rises in insider attacks. Yet only 44% of organizations use User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), leaving many vulnerable. Exabeam experts warn that traditional tools cannot keep pace with AI-fueled threats calling for new, advanced defense strategies.
