Mathematical Proficiency: Strong trigonometric understanding for determining gear PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), angles, and tapers.
Tool Grinding: The capacity to use a pedestal grinder to sharpen or repair High-Speed Steel (HSS) cutters.
Manual Dexterity: Extremely accurate hand-wheel control to keep feed rate constant for an excellent surface finish.
