Duties:
CAM Program Development: Use CAM software designed especially for vertical machining to create 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis toolpaths.
Machining Strategy: To guarantee part integrity and reduce tool wear, choose the most effective order of operations, from heavy roughing to high-speed finishing.
Choose the precise cutting tools and specialty holders needed to access intricate shapes or deep pockets.
Fixture create: To guarantee that parts stay stable under high cutting forces, conceptualize and create unique work-holding solutions, such as soft jaws or modular plates.
Simulation & Verification: To find and remove possible tool collisions, fast-moving gouges, or fixture interference, run full-scale machining simulations.
Technical Troubleshooting: Assist the shop floor during the Prove-Out stage by adjusting feeds, speeds, or step-overs in real time in response to cutting circumstances.
Focus Skills:
Software expertise includes mastery of 3D CAD modeling environments (SolidWorks, Inventor) and industry-standard CAM systems.
Milling Logic: In-deep knowledge of milling-specific factors, such as trochoidal toolpaths, climb versus traditional milling, and radial versus axial depth of cut.
Understanding how various materials (such as aluminum, titanium, and tool steel) respond to pressure and heat during the milling process is known as material science.
Geometric Awareness: The extraordinary capacity to decipher GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and convert it into programming parameters.
