THE REROOTING (The Rooting Place Saga Book 3)
valid until: 19 May 2027date published: 19 May 2026This book is the third sequel to The Rooting Place Trilogy. It is a play that was performed on a stage that I now want to publish in book form. Turbulent thunderstorms often rip through Mississippi leaving a path of tremendous destruction. In The ReRooting: The Culmination of the Rooting Place Saga, the wake of one such storm in December 2016 completely reroutes the life of Jeffrey Lee. Oba’s life also gets rerouted at that time because of the seismic shift the country takes when it elects Donald Trump as President over Hillary Clinton. Had Hillary won, Oba, a brilliant young attorney active in her campaign, would have received a position in the White House. Now, he finds himself jobless with no clear path forward. When he arrives home for Christmas that winter, he gets word that Jeffrey Lee is waiting to see him to settle some unfinished business. It has been 12 years since The Uprooting when the two of them last saw each other. It had ended with them in a fight, and it appeared that Oba had clobbered Jeffrey Lee to death with a rock, but he had only knocked him out temporarily. At this crossroads of his life, Oba now not only has to contend with Jeffrey Lee again, but also with Aly, a boisterous young woman from Atlanta who has unloaded herself at Mama Ida’s Place, the bed and breakfast Effie Raye now operates. She has brought her reclusive young son with her to get him out of the city for Christmas. At the end of the play another storm brews, a tornado this time. But amazingly enough, instead of destruction, it leads to the rerooting that Mama Ida had always envisioned.
